Benefits of The Vibration Plate

What is the Vibration Plate?

The vibration plate is a platform device designed to be stood, sat, or laid down on. The most common version of usage is with both feet planted on the machine. It moves in different directions, producing mechanical energy which travels through your body in the form of vibrations. The movements are small, quick and constant, meaning your muscles naturally contract while trying to maintain balance. In this blog piece, we’ll be taking you through the benefits of the vibration plate.

Where is The Vibration Plate Used?

According to the Royal Osteoporosis Society, this mechanism, often referred to as ‘Vibration Therapy’, was first created by scientists to help astronauts, who often lose muscle and bone density when spending prolonged periods in space.

You may find vibration plates in gyms, being used by physiotherapists, or in the everyday home. Vibration therapy is not routinely available via the NHS, however when Touch Tuina co-founder Errol Lynch was in recovery from his haemorrhagic stroke, the nurses had him using this device to aid his progress.

How Should You Use This Brilliant Device?

The duration and position used on the vibration plate will depend on your conditions and body’s constitution. When you come for a treatment at Touch Tuina – whether a massage or a 30 Minute Health Circuit – your practitioner will be able to advise on the best option for you.

One of the common movements is to be seated on a chair and your feet rested on the vibration plate. Another popular stance is to stand on it with both feet, and stand upright.

How Often Should You Use It?

The frequency and duration of which you use your vibration plate will depend on your goals and your current physical form. However, the average recommendation for at-home use is about two to three times a week, for approximately 10-20 minutes.

To gain the widest benefits of the vibration plate, a medium vibration setting is generally recommended. However, at Touch Tuina, we incorporate the vibration plate into our 30 Minute Health Circuit; for this, we include a 10 minute cycle on the machine.

Reaping the Benefits of the Vibration Plate with the 30 Minute Health Circuit

The 30 Minute Health Circuit is a customised 30-minute session where you enjoy two or three of our therapeutic machines in combination, depending on your needs that day. The session is always advised and guided by a Touch Tuina practitioner.

A Tuina massage therapist will typically use oscillating techniques on the body, which is similar to the principle of the vibration plate. Of course, it is very difficult for a human to recreate the continuous, high-speed vibration that the machine can. This is where the vibration plate can come in handy as an everyday tool or to further the benefits of Tuina treatments.

We have incorporated the vibration  plate into the £30 circuit, alongside our other special technologies including the far infrared heat cabin, BEMER machine, EMS/TENS machine, compression boots and the Dolphin Neurostim device.
