Stretch of the Month - The Toe Stretch

Try The Toe Stretch to Help Inactive Toes!

Experiencing cramping in your toes? Find opening up your feet unusual and uncomfortable? Tuina practitioner Dahl has the perfect stretch for getting your toes moving and active – The Toe Stretch!

If you’ve been following us on social media lately, you may have realised our conscious focus on foot health and remedies. You may even remember the Foot Stretch that we shared back in May, also demonstrated by Dahl.

If you’re keen to find out more about how you can improve the condition and health of your own feet, keep on reading as we talk you through this useful exercise.

How to Do The Toe Stretch

  1. Place a one-ply tissue or two-ply tissue on the floor beneath your feet (make sure you’re bare foot for this movement!)
  2. Spread out your toes and place your toes over the tissue
  3. Keeping your heel on the floor, grab the tissue with your toes – pick it up, then let it go
  4. Aim to repeat these steps about 10 times each session

You can also do the toe stretch with a light cloth or a handkerchief!

Why Try the Toe Stretch?

The toe stretch is a great way to get your toes and feet moving actively and with intention. Being at the bottom of our bodies, we can often forget how important feet are and this can lead to neglect.

The toe stretch encourages the use of all your tendons and ligaments, helping you activate your feet so they can do their (very important) job properly.

What are Some Other Ways to Take Care of Our Feet?

There are many things you can do to help heal or maintain your feet.

Another stretch that helps massage the tendons and ligaments in your lower leg, ankles and feet is the Kneel Stretch.

Fancy giving your feet some love and professional care? Why not book a Sole Reviver treatment, or even a Tuina Reflex foot massage to work on the structural foundation of the body part that keeps you grounded!
