The Stretch
This month’s stretch, Thread the Needle, is demonstrated by our Senior Practitioner Adrian, and follows on from last month’s Cat-Cow stretch.
- Start on all fours, with your knees directly under your hips and your hands under your shoulders — the same starting position as Cat-Cow.
- Lift one hand off the floor and gently thread it underneath your opposite arm, allowing your chest and head to rotate naturally. Keep your hips high and stable. Only reach as far as feels comfortable — everyone’s range will be different.
- Hold the stretch for at least 10–15 seconds — longer if you can.
- Return to the starting position, then repeat on the other side
Why is the Thread the Needle stretch good for you?
The Thread the Needle stretch helps open up the chest and shoulders, releases tension in the neck and upper back and increases spinal mobility.
