Touch Tuina practitioner Adrian demonstrates The Butterfly Stretch

Stretch of the Month - The Butterfly Stretch

Each month, we bring you a new stretch feature with demonstrations from our friendly practitioners. This month we have Senior Practitioner Adrian and we’re calling this one the ‘Butterfly Stretch’.

The Stretch

  1. This stretch is performed seated on the floor. Start by bringing the soles of your feet together, with your hands and pressing them towards each other.
  2. Allow your knees to fall outwards to the side.
  3. You can use your hands or elbows to gently push your knees down towards the floor for a deeper stretch.
  4. Hold!

Repeat as many times as you feel comfortable with and relax your way into the movement.

Why is the Butterfly stretch good for you?

The Butterfly stretch helps to improve mobility in the hips, gently stretches your hamstrings, strengthens your arms, releases and decompresses the sacroiliac joint and calms the mind.

If you would like to book a treatment with Adrian, he is available for appointments at the Kentish Town clinic.
