Acupuncture
Korean Hand Therapy is a fascinating practice that views the hand as a microcosm of the entire body — a sort of map where different parts of the hand correspond to different organs and systems. One helpful way to visualise it is to imagine the hand as a tiny walking insect.
When you look at the back of the hand, the thumb and fingers represent the head, neck, arms, and legs — while the central area of the palm corresponds to the spine and skeletal system. Flip the hand over, and things get even more interesting. The palm now becomes a map of the body’s internal organs.
In this view:
- The fingertips represent the head and neck.
- The base of the fingers and upper palm relate to the chest — including the heart and lungs.
- The diaphragm is roughly midway down the palm.
- And the lower part of the palm, especially when the hand is gently closed, aligns with the reproductive organs.
This is where Korean Hand Therapy becomes particularly relevant for women’s health and fertility. The lower palm area is believed to correspond to the uterus and ovaries. By stimulating this area through gentle massage or acupressure, some practitioners suggest it may help support conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS, or cystitis.
Many people find hand reflexology to be a helpful complementary approach — particularly when combined with other holistic or medical treatments.

Moxibustion (Moxa)
Moxibustion is a traditional practice involving burning moxa (mugwort) to create heat, it can be used in Korean Hand Therapy to stimulate specific hand points that correspond to areas of the body needing treatment. This technique, like other KHT methods, aims to address imbalances in the body’s energy (Qi) by stimulating or balancing specific points on the hand.
